Funding Accountant

Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult is recruiting a Funding Accountant based from our Blyth office, to provide financial control and analysis of grant funded projects and ensure that funding regulations are strictly adhered to.
What will I do?
- Manage tight financial control of portfolio of grant funded projects, adhering rigidly to guidelines to minimise risk of clawback. This portfolio could include various funded projects such as, IUK, DLUHC, EU, local Government and Milestone.
- Responsibility for overall funding requirements and as such show a willingness to work closely with various colleagues throughout the business to ensure all project outputs, milestones and KPI’s, including non-financial are delivered.
- Analysis and interrogation of data ensuring guidelines for funded projects are strictly adhered to.
- Production and submission of grant claims including the analysis and production of expenditure evidence. This could include analysis on labour costs, Purchase invoices, analysis of travel system, expenses system and bank statements.
- Work with the project teams, on preparation of forecast budgets and governance of Funded projects and quarterly reforecasting of budgets.
- Work closely with external auditors and build relationships. Full control of IAR’s and ensuring audits are conducted in a timely manner, minimise the risk of queries and clawback.
- Supporting the production of cashflow forecasts for grant funded projects. Liaise with grant funders and Finance to ensure payments are received in a timely manner.
What are we looking for?
- 2-3 years in an accounting role with exposure to revenue recognition advantageous.
- Strong communication skills - both written and verbal.
- Ability to effectively prioritise workload and work to funding deadlines.
- Confidence to work with individuals from across the organisation at all seniority levels.
- Team player and self-starter with ability to work with minimum supervision and work proactively using their own initiative.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook software.
- Knowledge of SAGE accounting software advantageous.
- Experience of Accruals, Prepayments, Cashflow, P&L and Balance Sheet.
- Ability to interrogate and analyse financial and other data.
- Grant funding knowledge desirable.
- Previous audit experience desirable.
