High Voltage Test Laboratory Manager

Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult is recruiting a High Voltage Test Laboratory Manager for our Blyth site, to lead a team of engineers and technicians to deliver high voltage testing and related work in our world leading facilities in the Charles Parsons Technology Centre.
What will I do?
- Lead project teams to achieve robust project plans, maintain these plans to completion and to deliver to meet customer expectations.
- Manage the facilities such that availability of the facility and throughput of tests is maximised and delivered to agreed time and budget.
- Support in the capture and development of detailed knowledge in the testing facilities’ capabilities in conjunction with clients and other test facilities world-wide.
- Deliver projects in accordance with safety, quality and working processes and people competencies.
- Support enquiry assessments and represent the company on asset, commercial and program issues.
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with client organisations.
- Maintain project records in accordance with internal procedures and external accreditation requirements.
- Assist in establishing and developing project management, resource planning and working processes and encourage adoption by necessary as appropriate.
- Lead lessons-learnt and programme development through engineering, supply chain and client/contractor reviews.
What are we looking for?
- Experience of leading and managing a team of engineers and technicians. Able to inspire, motivate and develop others.
- Experience of coordinating a department, taking accountability for safety, quality, resource management, workload management, efficiency of work.
- Commercial awareness and experience of delivery and customer focussed.
- HV test and HV cable related experience is an advantage.
- Track record of developing and implementing innovative ways of working.
- Excellent communication skills at all levels both internally and externally including presentation experience.
- Effective planning and organisational skills, including time and project management.
- A high degree of creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgement in directing extensive engineering programmes of significant importance.
- The ability to work with a range of stakeholders including delivery managers, technical teams, external customers.
- Proactive, flexible, adaptable and able to cope under pressure.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
- A degree in electrical engineering.

- Salary between £53,600 and £63,000, depending on experience.
